Stein Brewing Company has been serving the Mount Vernon community food and craft beer since 2018.
Located in one of the oldest, most authentic 19th-century opera houses, the brewery supplies the area with a hospitality service that includes a dine-in experience, in-house brewed beer, catering services and an amazing atmosphere.
“Not only are we providing a great experience in our restaurant, we have capabilities that very few in the area have for catering events,” owner David Stein said.
Stein Brewing Company prides itself on their out-of-restaurant experience. They can cater to almost any budget, customize the food experience and bring their beer to any event, according to Stein. The staff is trained to go above and beyond and they learn “no is the last answer” when it comes to the customers.
“We want to make sure that the food side of things is the last thing anyone ever has to worry about and everyone walks away extremely happy with what we’ve done,” Stein said.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) had only good things to say about Stein’s catering services.
“It’s a great addition to downtown Mount Vernon and the university as well,” Bob Toucheff, professor of music at MVNU, said. “The staff are very flexible and make things affordable. They make it all very worthwhile.”
The brewery has catered to many events for different groups within the university, including sports teams, clubs and alumni. “It’s great that they have shown us so much love and they see we are a restaurant at the core, not just a place that sells beer,” Stein said.
Stein Brewing Company has recently expanded their business to Licking county. The second restaurant opened on March 17 in downtown Newark and will offer a different variety of food and beer than the Mount Vernon location.
The business aims to bring a metropolis-like restaurant to small towns. According to Stein, there are no plans to open up a location in Columbus or Cleveland, but rather keep the company in smaller-scale communities.
“If I had to sum us up in a nutshell, I would say we are extremely passionate about bringing big city experience to our local community through genuine hospitality,” Stein said.
For the past four years, David Stein and his crew have worked hard to provide the community with a unique dining experience everyone can enjoy.
“It means everything. The amount of blood, sweat, tears and financing to go into it, brings me great pride. It’s great to see everyone’s faces and smiles and see how far we’ve come,” Stein said. “The culture we’ve created makes it a truly special place, and that is what we are going to shoot to do in Newark as well.”
