MOUNT VERNON – The City of Mount Vernon wants to know what you think about our parks.
As part of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the City has released a survey to gather feedback from City residents on how they enjoy Mount Vernon’s eight parks, what improvements they would like to see there, and which recreational amenities are most valuable to them. The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/93CHZT8.
The City’s parks are utilized for everything from solo and team sports, to exercise activities for both groups and individuals, to arts and entertainment events for people of all ages, and much more.
“Public participation is absolutely key to helping us better understand how to tailor our parks not just for this generation of Mount Vernon residents, but for future generations as well,” mayor Matt Starr said. “Mount Vernon has a top-notch parks system, and we want everybody to take advantage of what it has to offer.
“This survey will help us accomplish that.”
The City of Mount Vernon maintains eight parks – Ariel-Foundation, Memorial, Riverside, Hiawatha, Phillips, Arch Avenue, Shellmar and Riverview. The City is working on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan with MKC Architects in a consulting capacity.
The survey looks at everything from parking and restrooms and other infrastructure, to concessions, shelters and connectivity to sidewalks and bike trails. Again, residents are invited to visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/93CHZT8 to take this survey.
It has 12 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. All comments will be kept strictly confidential.
