Stop me if you have heard this story before.

Snow. Bitter cold. Messy travel conditions. Shovels. Salt. Plows.

Angry fists shaking at cloudy skies.

The business of winter in north central Ohio is about to pick up again as we prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Sunday and President’s Day on Monday.

weather map

Let’s start with the easier stuff first. It’s going to be cold, especially Sunday night through Tuesday with outside air temps in single digits and wind chills near or below zero. If that was it, we could just throw on a heavier coat and call it a day.

It’s not.

There are two snow systems bearing down on us even as we speak, the second one stronger than the first.

The first system is expected to bring accumulating snowfall Sunday night into Monday morning, which is likely to impact the Monday morning commute.

There will likely be a lull in snowfall on Monday afternoon, before a stronger system moves through the area Monday night into Tuesday. This system is expected to produce widespread, heavier snow and will impact the Tuesday morning commute.

Weather forecasters are not being specific yet on snow amounts. But seven to 10 inches Sunday night through Tuesday morning seems to be gathering some degree of consensus.

We will keep you posted as we learn more. Just know the cold and snow is coming.
