Terry Hamilton

ASHLAND – Former Ashland County Sheriff’s Capt. Terry Hamilton was arrested this week for soliciting, according to an Ashland Police report.

Hamilton, 60, was taken into custody around 5 p.m. Monday at Buehler’s Fresh Foods on charges of solicitation, falsification and possession of criminal tools, according to a police report. All three charges are misdemeanors.

The report indicates police believe Hamilton was soliciting a woman for sexual activity for hire between Nov. 27 and Dec. 31 and that he misled a public official. Detectives obtained cash, a bank receipt and a cell phone as evidence.

Hamilton posted bond and is scheduled to appear in Ashland Municipal Court for arraignment Friday.

Hamilton worked at the Ashland County Sheriff’s office more than 35 years, most recently as a captain overseeing the dispatch center until his retirement in 2017.
