Donald R. “Bob” Moxley, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at his home.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1940 in Knox County to the late Robert and Helen (Bevington) Moxley. Bob was employed for over 20 years at the Mount Vernon Fire Department from which he retired.
He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. But most of all he loved baking goodies for his friends and family. Bob was a veteran serving in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, of over 54 years, Sally Moxley; his sons, Jim (Sherry) Moxley, Tom (Jenny) Moxley, Tim (Deb) Moxley; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Cody) Clark, Ryan Moxley, Amber Moxley, Ariell Moxley, Erica Moxley, Kayla Moxley, Kyle Moxley, Brittany Sapp, Matt Sapp; 10 great-grandchildren, Kendal, Natalee, Brayden, Cam, Avery, Dailon, Libby, Emily, Hannah and Xena; his sister-in-law Sarah Moxley and numerous nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Polly Hartsook and his brother Jim Moxley. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 beginning at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Knox County Animal Shelter; Kindred Hospice; or a charity of one’s choice.
