MOUNT VERNON — Patients seeking the specialty of gastroenterology can now receive care at Knox Community Hospital.
The hospital has announced the addition of Bennie R. Upchurch, MD, to the Department of Specialty Care—Gastroenterology. As recently as August 2018, Dr. Upchurch was named by Columbus Monthly as a Top Doctor in Central Ohio.
Dr. Upchurch received his medical degree at the University of Iowa. He completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in gastroenterology at The Ohio State University School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Upchurch has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at The Ohio State University as well as staff physician at Creighton University, St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic and has won teaching awards at each of these institutions.
Medicine combines his love of biology and technology. Offering patients all GI services as well as providing minimally invasive and nonsurgical options for long term weight loss, Dr. Upchurch looks forward to partnering with patients and their families.
Dr. Upchurch has ties to central Ohio where his wife’s family has farmed for many years, so he is not a stranger to life in rural communities.
His office is located on the 5 th floor at KCH; for more information or to make an appointment call 740-300-3786.
