Leland E. White, 83, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday morning, Oct. 22, 2018 at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on March 17, 1935 in Knox County to the late Earl F. and Rose D. (Rush) White.

Leland honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Cooper Energy Services with over 40 years of service. Leland loved working on and collecting antique clocks and he also enjoyed listening to country music. He attended the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene.

Leland is survived by his children, Pam (Mike) Williams, of Danville, Jeff White, of Columbus, and Dianna (Mike) Lang, of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Amber Tims Beach, Jared Tims and Brent Lang; a great grandson, Issac Beach; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Patsy Campbell, of Mount Vernon.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann (Griffith) White in 1979; sisters, Margaret Poland and Nellie Perkins; and a brother, Howard White.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon. Rev. Scott Sharpes will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery near Mount Vernon with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
