DANVILLE – This week’s matchup features two local bluebloods that tied for the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference championship last fall – Highland (2-1) at Danville (0-3). The Fighting Scots will take on the Blue Devils at Tough Street Stadium on Friday night at 7 p.m.

All five Knox County teams will kick off conference play on Friday night. This week’s Game of the Week video not only previews the Danville-Highland matchup, but also discusses where each county team stands heading into league play:

Unfortunately for Danville, the Blue Devils are off to their worst start since 2009. The program’s seven-year playoff streak is in jeopardy as the team begins conference play, although there is still plenty of time to make up for the slow start. The Blue Devils faced a brutal non-conference schedule, as their first three opponents have combined for an 8-1 record so far.

Last week, Danville lost its home opener in overtime to Garaway, 29-28. The Blue Devils will look to get back on track on Friday night against an experienced, physical Highland squad.

The Scots are aiming to continue their winning ways on Friday night. After losing their first game of the season by 22 points, they’ve rattled off 31 and 33-point victories over the last two weeks. Last week, Highland beat River Valley, 41-8, behind 449 rushing yards from the teams’ four tailbacks.

Highland’s defense has also been dominant over the last two weeks, giving up just 24 total points.

Last season, Highland beat Danville in Marengo, 26-0. The two teams tied for the inaugural KMAC title because Highland fell to Northmor in Week 10. Both the Scots and the Blue Devils finished 6-1 in conference play last year.
