Crash Reports

  • Dec. 18 – Rachel K. Miller was traveling westbound on E. Chestnut St. and struck the rear of Gwen G. Hollback who had slowed for traffic ahead. Both units sustained minor damage.
  • Dec. 18 – Marea Ann Guillermo was backing out of her driveway and struck a vehicle owned by Scott J. Napier which was parked on E. Hamtramck St. in the front passenger side fender. Guillermo was cited for starting and backing vehicles.
  • Dec. 19 – Austin Lee Burkett was traveling southbound on S. Main St. and Heather Lust was traveling westbound on Mount Vernon Ave. where it crosses S. Main St. Burkett failed to yield to Lust while turning right on a red light. This caused Lust to strike Burkett.
  • Dec. 20 – Justin A. Flack and Codi L. Collier were in the line at a drive-thru. Flack struck Collier in the rear.

Incident Reports

  • Dec. 18 – An officer was dispatched to 1 Fountain St. on a traffic complaint. Dispatch advised the officer that a 4-hour wait had been placed on a vehicle by another officer a few days before. The complainant advised the vehicle was still on his property and he wanted it removed. The vehicle was towed to the Mount Vernon Police Department’s impound lot. The vehicle will be released upon proof of ownership, a valid drive’s license, valid registration and payment of tow and storage fees.
  • Dec. 20 – An office responded to a reported vandalism on Mount Vernon Ave. When the officer arrived on the scene he spoke with a city employee who advised that person(s) unknown had cut and destroyed a tennis court net and had cut a hole in the tennis court fence. The suspect(s) also took the the net posts and removed them from the court. These were later located and secured by park workers. There are no suspects at this time.
  • Dec. 21 – An officer was dispatched to a residence on Calhoun St. on a report of a stolen Christmas light projector. The investigation is pending.
  • Dec. 21 – Units responded to an E. Gambier St. residence on a report of domestic violence. When the officers arrived on the scene they spoke with a female who indicated she had been involved in an altercation with her husband, Joshua Thomas. Thomas had left the scene prior to the arrival of the police. Officers interviewed the female and a child who had witnessed the incident. Thomas was located and read his Miranda Warning Rights but he refused to answer questions. Thomas was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Knox County Jail.
  • Dec. 21 – At 10:11 P.M. units were dispatched to a Coshocton Ave. business in reference to shoplifting. It was reported that the suspect had tried to hide a bottle of soda in his coat and attempted to leave without offering payment The suspect was issued a summons for petty theft. and criminal trespassing.

Arrests and Citations

  • Nov. 11 – David Hollar, 27, Oak Dr. was charged with assault.
  • Nov. 29 – Michael Miller,34, homeless, was charged with theft.
  • Dec. 19 – Austin Burkett, 21, Fredericktown,was cited for improper turning at an intersection.
  • Dec. 19 – Brittany Strunk, 22, E. Chestnut St. was arrested and charged with falsification.
  • Dec. 19 – Bradley Smith, 53, Howard was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • Dec. 19 – Judy McCloskey, 58, Harcourt Rd. was arrested and charged with theft.
  • Dec. 20 – Justin Flack, 24, Sychar Rd. was cited for assured clear distance and driving under suspension/revocation.
  • Dec. 20 – Charles Martin, 53, E. Burgess St. was cited for weaving within own lane.
  • Dec. 20 – Lisa Rohal, 28, Howard, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • Dec. 21 – Joshua Thomas, 34, E. Gambier St. was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
