DANVILLE — The Richland Mall in Mansfield has gotten a little sweeter.
Amber Dagis and her husband Abraham have opened a Thai ice cream shop in the food court of the Richland Mall. The decision to open the store, named “All Rolled Up,” came after Dagis saw a shop in Columbus serving the specialty ice cream.
“We had seen it in Columbus and I wanted to do it,” she said. “And I was getting tired of nursing. I wanted to try some kind of business with the family.”
The cold treat made from a base of Thai ice cream mix is poured on to an anti-griddle, which immediately begins freezing the mix.
Toppings are added as the mixture-turned-solid is mashed then spread across the anti-griddle.
Dagis said the ice cream doesn’t taste like soft serve, suggesting it is not as creamy or sweet. The store does have specials to add sugar to a patron’s diet including chocolate syrup, sprinkles, peanut butter and other fixings.
Then the creator takes a spatula and rolls the ice cream creating about six rolls. The rolls are then put into a cup.
Along with her husband, Dagis said she works with her daughter, Hannah and Trevor, Hannah’s boyfriend.
Dagis, a resident in Danville, said she chose the Richland Mall because of how busy it was.
All Rolled Up joins the mall’s store transformation with a bevy of recently opened stores: Blue Barista, Sephora, Aesthetic Lookz, Spazz and Keetons.
“I had looked around at other malls and I really liked this one,” she said. “I went and looked around and heard some malls weren’t busy. I thought I like this one. Other ones were more empty. Other people say this mall is empty, but I as far as I’m seeing stores are opening up.”
