MOUNT VERNON–The Knox County Democratic Party hosts its annual Knox County Democratic Dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Glenn A. Gallagher Centre. Featured speakers for the evening are Aftab Pureval, Ken Harbaugh and Zack Space.
Aftab Pureval, the clerk of courts of Hamilton County (Cincinnati), Ohio, won election in 2016 as the first Democrat to win that position in more than 100 years. With a campaign combining a humorous take on his unusual first name and proposals for serious reforms to the county’s court system, Pureval won recognition as an up-and-coming Democrat with statewide potential.
Ken Harbaugh is the Democratic candidate for Congress for Ohio’s 7th Congressional District. A Navy pilot who flew reconnaissance missions in the Middle East and off North Korea, Harbaugh also served as the president of Team Rubicon Global, a disaster-relief organization that has trained more than 45,000 military veterans to deploy worldwide.
Zack Space is the Democratic candidate for Ohio auditor of state. Space represented Knox County in Congress for two terms as the representative from Ohio’s 18th Congressional district and previously served as law director for the City of Dover.
The dinner also features presentations of the party’s Democratic Volunteer of the Year Award and Legacy Award as well as the Elaine Mayhew Award from the Knox County Democratic Women.
