MVPD

8/17/17 – At approximately 2:05 PM an officer responded to S. Harrison St. near W. Gambier St, with the Mount Vernon Fire Department in reference to a man passed out in the street. The male was found by the MVPD to be unconscious but still breathing. When the officer arrived the male, identified as Jeff Middleton, was sitting up, alert and talking to paramedics. Middleton was arrested for a probation violation and transported to the Knox County Jail.

8/17/17 – At about 1:10 AM two officers responded to the area of 855 Coshocton Ave. on a report of a disturbance, possibly involving a firearm, Although no firearms were found at the scene of the disturbance, one of the males involved. Micah Dean was found to be in possession of 14 hypodermic syringes, Dean was arrested at the scene and charges were filed.

8/17/17 – At about 12:32 PM, an officer was dispatched to 911 Coshocton Ave. on a report of an infant left unattended in a hot car. The officer spoke with the complainant who stated she saw the infant in the vehicle. The officer removed the infant from the car and called the Mount Vernon Fire Department which came and checked on the condition of the child. Children Services was contacted and responded to the scene. A male returned to the car. He was identified as Donald Ireland. Ireland was found to have warrants out of the Heath Police department. Ireland was arrested n the warrants and also charged with child endangering and incarcerated in the Knox County Jail.

8/17/17 – An officer was dispatched to a N. Gay St. address on a report of a stolen vehicle. The officer found no witnesses or evidence at the scene. Nothing further to report.

Arrests/Charges/Citations

8/16/17 – Joshua Chavis, 36, Columbus, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation.

8/17/17 – Micah Dean, 38, was arrested and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments.

8/17/17 – Joseph Cochran, 36, Columbus, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

8/17/17 – Jeffery Middleton, 36, Ridgewood Ave. was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments.

8/17/17 – Donald Ireland, 35, Utica was arrested and charged with child endangering.

Traffic accidents

8/17/17 – Donald W. Clayborne was westbound in the Walmart parking lot. He began a left turn (south) and struck a handicap sign post.

8/17/17 – 1 was traveling east on W. Vine St. and stated she had a green light at the intersection of W, Vine and S. Sandusky streets. 2 was northbound on S. Sandusky St. and stated she had a green light at the intersection. Both vehicles crashed in the intersection. There were no witnesses to the incident and it was listed as an unknown at-fault party.
