MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Health Department will host the last mid-week farmers’ market of the season on Tuesday from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Students with the Mount Vernon High School FCCLA will provide activities for children involving apples. Activities will include apple tasting with different kinds of apples; a craft project; and an energy break involving apples and water.
Everyone attending will have the opportunity to register for a small chest freezer. The winners will be announced later this month. The freezer give-away is part of the Get Healthy Knox County campaign with funding provided by United Way in partnership with Herald’s Appliances.
Exhibitors at the health department market are the same growers that sell at the Saturday market on the Public Square in downtown Mount Vernon. The health department farmers’ market is open to the general public and is held rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, the food demonstration will be moved inside.
