Incidents:

At 2:55 a.m. on Friday, five counterfeit $1.00 bills were reported at the Duke & Duchess Shoppe on Coshocton Avenue.

At 8:45 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at the Rite-Aid on Newark Road. A suspect entered the store, stole a Craig tablet valued at $149.00, and ran out the back door. Pictures of the suspect were available.

At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, a resident on the 500-block of E. Burgess Street reported finding a hypodermic needle while mowing his yard. An officer collected the needle for safe disposal.

At 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, several items were reported stolen from the Jubilee Gospel Church on the 500-block of N. Main Street. Missing items included a 70” Vizio television, a 17-foot aluminum ladder, a 13-foot aluminum ladder, and a 10” sliding mitre saw. Their combined value was estimated at $1,850.00. A suspect was identified.

At 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a suspicious male hiding in the bushes on the 200-block of N. Mulberry Street. A suspect, Scott Llewellyn, was located and issued a summons for possession of a hypodermic needle he was allegedly attempting to hide. The hypodermic syringe and a green plastic bag were collected as evidence.

At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in progress at a residence on the 800-block of N. Mulberry Street. A suspect, Jeffrey Fisher, was arrested.

At 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, Kain Dixon, a suspect wanted for a probation violation, was found in the area of E. Burgess and N. Park Streets. He was found to be in possession of marijuana, placed in handcuffs, and transported to jail.

Arrests and Charges:

Timothy Dugger, 33, of Mount Vernon was charged on July 22, 2016 with assault.

Larry Butler, 28, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday for possession of drug abuse instruments, for obstruction, and for a probation violation.

Tracy Blakely, 42, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 6:30 a.m. on Friday for operating a vehicle while under the influence.

Jay Beaver, 21, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 5:50 p.m. on Friday on an outstanding warrant.

Scott “Dookie” Llewellyn, 25, of Centerburg was charged at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday for possession of drug abuse instruments.

Jeffrey Fisher, 32, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday for resisting arrest, for persisting disorderly conduct, and domestic violence.

Aaron Taylor, 43, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday for a probation violation.

Kain Dixon, 18, of Croton was arrested at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday for drug abuse and a probation violation.

                                                       

Traffic Citations:

Michael Smith, 64, of Mount Vernon was cited at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Emily Patrick, 19, of Howard was cited at 11:20 p.m. on Friday for operating a vehicle with expired/unlawful plates.

Freda Waulk, 59, of Sparta was cited at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday for failing to control her vehicle.

Dennis Blanton, 44, of Mount Vernon was cited at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Stacy Martin, 41, of Mount Vernon was cited at 4:40 a.m. on Sunday for an illegal exhaust system.

 

Accidents:

At 2:50 p.m. on Friday, Nora Balcom, 57, of Danville was traveling northbound on Upper Gilchrist Road in her 2014 Honda CR-V. She struck a deer near Venture Drive.

At 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, a 2012 Ford Fusion belonging to Anissa A. Treen of Mount Vernon was parked in the Elks BPOE parking lot. An unknown driver struck it and fled the scene.

At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Melanie D. Snow, 36, of Mount Vernon backed his 2008 Dodge Caravan out of a parking space in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Freda L Waulk, 59, of Sparta backed her 2009 Ford Escape out of a space on the opposite side of the lane at the same time. The two struck one another in the driving lane. Waulk was cited for the incident.

At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Monica Michelle Staggers, 27, of Mount Vernon was heading northbound on Martinsburg Road in Knox County Transit vehicle. Dennis Blanton, 44, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. When Staggers quickly braked to turn left onto Parrott Street, Blanton was unable to stop in time and rear-ended her. Blanton was cited for the incident.

At 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, Larry Kaser, 72, of Strasburg was traveling northbound in his Honda in the right-lane of N. Gay Street. Jackie J. Mullins, 61, of Galion was in the left-lane in her 2003 Oldsmobile heading in the same direction. Kaser attempted to turn left from the right-lane onto E. Chestnut Street and struck Mullins’s vehicle.

At 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, an 8-year-old boy was traveling northbound on S. Adams Street on his bicycle. Brittany D. Lyon, 32, of Mount Vernon was traveling eastbound on W. Gambier Street in a 2011 Chevy Cruze. The young cyclist failed to stop at the stop-sign and struck Lyon’s vehicle at the intersection of those streets. The child was taken by the MVFD to Knox Community Hospital for treatment.

On Saturday, 8/20, a Utica resident reported that her identity had been used to open an Amazon credit card account.
Jared Potts, 33, Fredericktown was arrested on an outstanding warrant Sunday evening, 8/21. He has been charged wtih possessin of drug paraphernalia. Potts was taken to the Knox county Jail without incient.
Tony Bennett, 46, Mount Vernon was arrested late Sunday, 8/21, due to an active warrant out of Delaware County Common Pleas Court. He was transported to the Knox/Delaware County line and released to the Delaware County Sheriff’s office.
