MOUNT VERNON – Officers from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrew Wiegard, 37, of Thornville, Sunday. He is currently being charged with Importuning.
Importuning is definied as demanding or soliciting insistently for sex.
Wiegard had been communicating via online and text messages with what he thought was an underage girl to engage in sexual activity with him. The female was actually a Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

Wiegard was arrested when he arrived for the pre-arranged meeting. A handgun was discovered in the vehicle during the arrest. If convicted, Wiegard could be sentenced to one year in prison and a $2,500 fine.
The case remains under investigation.
