MVPD
Incidents:
Just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were dispatched to the 100-block of W. Vine Street in response to a report of a male suspect inside a parked vehicle. They found a male suspect, later identified as Andrew Suain, inside a pick-up truck. At taser-point, Suain was ordered to place his hands on the roof of the truck. Suain complied but attempted to flee when the officer tried to handcuff him. Suain struggled briefly before complying. An officer ordered him to the ground to be handcuffed and Suain complied. He was handcuffed and arrested. The suspect was advised of his Miranda rights but informed the officer that he had a heroin problem and was getting into the pick-up truck in order to eat. A black camo backpack containing $10.29—mostly in quarters and dimes—were collected as evidence. The owner of the truck reported that “about $5.00” in loose change was missing. Suain’s probation officer was notified of his arrest and he was taken to the Knox County Jail.
At 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, a business on W. Gambier Street reported that a four-hour wait was up for a vehicle that was abandoned on the property. The owner could not be reached and the 2002 Dodge Intrepid was towed to the MVPD impound lot.
At 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a reported disturbance on the 600-block of N. Sandusky Street. Witnesses reported that a female suspect smashed a piece of electronic equipment with an axe and then engaged in a physical fight with another female suspect. The women continued to fight and, in the process, trespassed on a neighbor’s property. Witness statements were taken and both of the female suspects (Jacquelyn Price and Sarah Burns) were issued summonses for criminal trespassing and for disorderly conduct.
At 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, officers found an unsecured residence on the 400-block of N. Sandusky Street. They cleared the residence and confirmed that everything was in order but, during the search, found a male suspect who was wanted on an active warrant. He was arrested without incident. The tenant was notified of the unsecured building.
At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a victim reported that his Honda Fit had been vandalized while parked in a lot on the 400-block of W. Chestnut Street. The driver’s window had been broken out but nothing appeared to be missing. The damage occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Arrests and Charges:
Matthew Woody, 26, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday for a probation violation.
