MOUNT VERNON – The unemployment rate in Knox County was 4.6 percent in June 2016, up from 4.1 percent in May, according to a recent report from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In June 2015, the unemployment rate in the county was 4.8 percent.
The report states that, in June 2016, there were 1,600 people unemployed in Knox County out of an estimated labor force of 31,800.
Ohio’s unemployment rate fell from 5.1 percent in May 2016 to 5.0 percent in June. In June 2015, the rate was 4.8 percent.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in June was 291,000, down 9,000 from 300,000 in May. The number of unemployed has increased by 17,000 in the past 12 months from 274,000.
The U.S. unemployment rate for June was 4.9 percent, up from 4.7 percent in May and down from 5.3 percent in June 2015.
