MOUNT VERNON – After 33 years the owner of Neff’s Supermarket on South Main Street has decided to retire. Bob Juengst has worked in the grocery industry in 1967. This Saturday, August 6, is the last day that Neff’s will be open. Juengst announced on Facebook that the store will close at 7 p.m. Saturday but they will have free brats and hot dogs and pop starting at 3 p.m.

Juengst was not available for comment by phone this morning at the store.

The new owners will be there Saturday afternoon to meet and greet customers. According to the State of Ohio Department of Taxation vendor’s license list the property at 524 S. Main will now be managed by Baker’s Management, doing business as Baker’s IGA.

Oldtimers will remember that location used to be an A & P grocery store in the 1960’s.
