Arrests and Charges:
Charles Rush, 33, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, for theft of a laptop.
Lexus Robinson, 22, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Friday on an outstanding warrant.
Tommy Nichols, 20, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Friday on an outstanding warrant.
Russell Copeland, 33, of Mount Vernon was arrested just before 11:00 p.m. on Friday on an outstanding warrant. He was charged also with resisting arrest and with obstructing official business.
Richard Miles, 22, of Columbus was arrested at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday for a probation violation and for possession of drug abuse instruments.
Traffic Citations:
James Englehart, 60, of Howard was cited at 5:15 a.m. on Friday for failing to stop at a flashing red-light.
William Waits, 21, of Butler was cited at 10:05 p.m. on Saturday for driving under a suspended/revoked license.
Alexandra Lynds, 18, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday for running a stop-sign.
Jason Shaffer, 35, of Gambier was cited at 2:35 a.m. on Sunday for operating a vehicle with expired/unlawful plates.
Thomas Carpenter, 25, of Kure Currie, NC for driving under a suspended license and for failing to display valid plates.
Nikki Freeman, 44, of Mount Vernon was cited at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for operating a vehicle with expired/unlawful plates.
Timothy Price, 21, of Howard was cited at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday for shortcutting to avoid traffic-control devices.
Tylor Ackley, 30, of Mount Vernon was cited at 12:55 p.m. on Sunday for changing lanes without insuring it was safe to do so.
Accidents:
Just before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Arnold L. Pack, 47, of Columbus pulled his semi-truck into the parking lot of the medical complex near Pak Mail on Vernedale Drive. When he did so, he knocked down low-hanging Century Link service lines.
At 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, Tylor P. Ackley, 30, of Mount Vernon was traveling westbound in the center turn-lane of Coshocton Avenue in his 2003 Dodge Durango. Brenda L. Cheek, 51, of Mount Vernon was in his 2004 Mercury Sable heading the same direction in an adjacent lane. Near Woodlake Trail, Ackley attempted to leave his lane and struck the rear of Cheek’s vehicle.
Incidents:
At 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, a victim reported the theft of several items—including clothing, food products, and a Cards Against Humanity game—from his vehicle while it was parked on the public square. A suspect was identified.
Just before 11:00 p.m. on Friday, Russell Copeland, 33, of Mount Vernon was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was charged also with resisting arrest and with obstructing official business. A taser was involved.
At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, a victim filed a report of criminal mischief involving her vehicle on the 00-block of Marion Street.
At 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, a victim reported the theft of several items—including clothing, identification cards, a baby-blanket, and her great-grandmother’s Bible—from a residence on the 300-block of E. Burgess Street. A suspect was identified.
At 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, a resident on the 900-block of Beech Street reported finding a hypodermic needle on her outside table. She later realized that a neighbor had found the needle out by the road and forgot to tell her that he had placed it on the table. An officer collected the needle for safe disposal.
At 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that her vehicle had been damaged on the 400-block of Oak Street.
At 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, a victim reported the theft of several items—including $72.00 in cash—from his vehicle while parked on the 400-block of Oak Street.
At 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that $300.00 in cash had been taken from his Jeep while it was parked overnight on the 600-block of E. Gambier Street. The vehicle’s driver’s window had been broken out.
At 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, a victim reported a possible burglary at a residence on the 900-block of E. High Street. Missing items included five fishing-poles and three tackle boxes with a combined value of $600.00.
At 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that his vehicle had been vandalized on the 800-block of E. Vine Street.
At 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that her vehicle had been vandalized while parked overnight on the 1000-block of Howard Street.
