MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Grand Jury indicted 13 people for felonies on Monday.  Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville noted that two of the indictments involved NRA instructors for CCW classes who allegedly falsified certificates that their classes met the minimum requirements under state law.  “By and large, local CCW instructors are abiding by the requirements for their courses.  These cases are about a couple of people who are believed to have been cutting corners,”  McConville said.

Robert A. Hess, 55, of Loudonville, was indicted for 38 counts of Forgery, all fifth-degree felonies. John H. Fisher, 36, of Cardington, was indicted for 12 counts of Forgery, all fifth-degree felonies. The indictments allege that Hess and Fisher were falsifying completion certificates for the NRA Basic Pistol Course. These cases were investigated by Knox County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Light.

Jessica A. Deel, 29, of Cardington, was indicted for Receiving Stolen Property and Forgery, fifth-degree felonies, and Theft, a first degree misdemeanor. Deel is alleged to have passed stolen checks in the amount of $320.00 at Huntington National Bank. This case was investigated by Mount Vernon Police Ptl. Nicholas Myrda.

Chase A. Sherman, 32, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a fifth-degree felony. The indictment alleges Sherman was found in possession of methamphetamine. This case was investigated by MVPD Cpl. Reginald Young.

Jacob R. McQueen, 31, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and Resisting Arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. The indictment alleges that McQueen was found in possession of methamphetamine after resisting arrest. This case was investigated by Cpl. Reginald Young.

Justin R. Stachler, 31, of Danville was indicted for Domestic Violence, a fourth-degree felony, Possession of Heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and Resisting Arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Cpl. Reginald Young.

Marcus T. Thompson, 24, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle. The indictment alleges that Thomson was knowingly transporting a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun in his vehicle.  This case was investigated by Cpl. Reginald Young.

Brian K. Walley, 48, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Police Officer, both fourth-degree felonies.  This case was investigated by Cpl. Reginald Young.

Jeremy A. Helmick, 36, of Fredericktown was indicted for two counts of Having Weapons While Under Disability, both third-degree felonies. The indictment alleges that Helmick was in possession of a Marlin 83TS .22 caliber and Winchester 1300 20 gauge. This case was investigated by Fredericktown Police Ptl. Rene Joris.

Steven Nyhart, 54, of Fredericktown was indicted for Rape, a first-degree felony, and Gross Sexual Imposition, a fourth-degree felony.  This case was also investigated by Ptl. Joris.

Ronny J. Brumbley, Jr., 39, of Danville was indicted for Having Weapons While Under Disability, a third-degree felony, and Aggravated Possession of Drugs, both fifth-degree felonies. Brumbley is alleged to have a .22 caliber Jennings pistol, methamphetamine, and schedule II pills in his possession. This case was investigated by MVPD Ptl. Justin Trowbridge.

Jared T. Jones, 28, of Glenmont was indicted for Domestic Violence, a fourth-degree felony.  This case was investigated by KCSO Dep. Tim Knell.

Heather N. Schuch, 26, of Fremont, North Carolina was indicted for Grand Theft, a fourth-degree felony. The indictment alleges that Schuch stole $25,950.00 in cash. This case was investigated by MVPD Det. Tim Arnold.

Arraignments for these indictments will be held at the Knox County Court of Common Pleas on July 22, 2016 at 9 am.
