MOUNT VERNON – On Friday, June 10th, supporters gathered at the home of Sam and Paula Barone to meet and invest in Mary Chapa, candidate for county commissioner, and John Russell, running for the 68th Ohio House District.
Chapa, a psychiatric social worker, is interested in helping the community where she grew up and where her parents were teachers. A hard worker, she plans to be a full-time commissioner, involved in outreach, transparency in government, and working with all Americans to solve local problems and meet the needs of the people of Knox County. For more information, go to marychapa.org. Chapa, a Democrat, is running against Republican incumbent Thom Collier in November.
Russell, a farmer from Delaware County, has ideas for improving skilled trade education and offering financial literacy to all Ohio students; putting skilled workers on jobs building roads, freight rail, water mains, internet capacity and community infrastructure while interest rates at are a 35-year low; and breaking the grip of hard drugs by improving addiction treatment, updating laws to combat new trafficking methods, and controlling highly addictive prescription painkillers. Go to www.johnrussell.info for more information. Russell, a Democrat, will face Republican Rick Carfagna in November.
