Arrests and Charges:
Hunter Phillips, 21, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 11:00 p.m. on Monday for domestic violence and for a probation violation.
Traffic Citations:
Melissa Hyatt, 33, of Mount Vernon was cited at 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday for starting and backing her vehicle without insuring it was safe to do so.
Elizabeth Stevens, 67, of Mount Vernon was cited at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for starting and backing her vehicle without insuring it was safe to do so.
Accidents:
At 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Melissa Hyatt, 33, of Mount Vernon was in her 2002 Chevy Venture parked northwest-bound in front of Foster’s Pharmacy. Nicole Au, 36, of Fredericktown was stopped facing westbound on W. High Street in her 2011 Chevy Equinox. When Hyatt attempted to back out of her parking spot, she struck the right rear corner of Au’s vehicle. Hyatt was cited for the incident.
At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Elizabeth Ann Stevens, 67, of Mount Vernon was in her 2007 Toyota Sienna parked northwest-bound in front of Flapper’s Bar & Grille. Hayes Chiffin, 21, of Fredericktown was stopped facing westbound on W. High Street in his 2000 Honda CRV. When Stevens attempted to back out of her parking spot, she struck the right rear corner of Chaffin’s vehicle. Stevens was cited for the incident.
Incidents:
A victim reported on Monday that a burglary at his residence on the 100-block of N. Mulberry Street at around midnight on Saturday. Among the items taken were a 22-caliber Mauser Rifle, two 22-caliber Remington rifles, and a 22-caliber Winchester rifle. A soft gun case and two fingerprint cards were recovered on Monday. A suspect was identified.
At 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a victim reported the theft of several items from an apartment on the 200-block of Shirley Avenue. Among the missing items were several DVD collections—including Season Two of “Game of Thrones” and Season Two and Season Three of “Gossip Girl”. A suspect was identified.
At 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to an activated business alarm at The Main Place on the 100-block of W. High Street. Upon arrival, they found the front door unsecured. They completed a walk-thru of the business and found nothing amiss. A keyholder arrived and verified that everything was in order. The alarm was reset and the building secured before officers cleared from the immediate area.
At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a victim reported that her 1999 Ford Ranger was vandalized while parked on the 100-block of W. Pleasant Street. A suspect was identified.
