MVPD

Arrests and Charges: Amy Burdge, 42, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 11:55 a.m. on Friday on an outstanding warrant.

Jessie Miller, 28, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 1:15 p.m. on Friday for shoplifting at Shoe Sensation.

Grant Looney, 38, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 9:40 p.m. on Friday for domestic violence.

Roberta Chafin, 51, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday for felonious assault. She was later charged with drug abuse and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brandon May, 20, of Mount Vernon was charged at 2:35 a.m. on Sunday with providing false information for the purpose of purchasing alcohol.

Levi Stacy, 24, of Mount Vernon was charged at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday with drug abuse.

Traffic Citations:

Clayton Smith, 36, of Mount Vernon was cited at 11:40 a.m. on Friday for driving under a suspended license.

Joshua Nicholls, 25, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:00 p.m. on Friday for failing to transfer his vehicle registration.

Charles Noel, 52, of Mount Vernon was cited at 4:20 p.m. on Friday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Mark Fell, 42, of Mount Vernon was cited at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday for failing to transfer his vehicle registration.

Valerie Johnson, 58, of Mount Vernon was cited at 9:55 a.m. on Saturday for illegally turning at an intersection.

Eric Beltz, 34, of Mount Vernon was cited at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Shawn Mathews, 23, of Mount Vernon was cited at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday operating a vehicle under the influence, for driving under a suspended license, for fleeing/eluding with a motor vehicle, and for failing to control his vehicle.

Accidents:

At 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Casey J. Cole, 24, of Mount Vernon was heading eastbound on Coshocton Avenue in a 2008 Ford Ranger. Charles Todd Noel, 52, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him in his 2009 Nissan Versa. When Cole stopped for traffic near Greer Street, Noel rear-ended him. Noel was cited for the incident.

At 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, Valerie Johnson, 58, of Mount Vernon was traveling eastbound on Coshocton Avenue in her Jeep Liberty. Katherine Michelle Franks, 27, of Mount Vernon was traveling westbound on Coshocton Avenue in her 2014 Ford Focus. When Johnson attempted to turn left into the driveway at Tim Horton’s Café, she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and Franks struck her. Franks was cited for the incident.

At noon on Saturday, a 2006 Pontiac G6 belonging to Nicholas J. Caruso of Fredericktown was parked on the 300-block of Prospect Street Extension. An unknown driver struck its left front corner and fled the scene.

At 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Shawn S. Mathews, 23, of Mount Vernon ran off the right side of an unnamed alley in a 2004 GMC Sierra, striking a fence in the process. He then crossed over the roadway to the left, proceeded through a yard and over a curb onto E. Burgess Street, where his right wheel struck the curb and disabled his vehicle. Mathews was cited for the incident and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Blubaugh’s Towing.

Incidents:

At 7:15 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on the 200-block of E. Gambier Street. A suspect was identified.

At 11:20 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on the 100-block of McGibney Road. A suspect was identified and arrested.

At 11:20 a.m. on Friday, a resident of the 1100-block of Mulberry Street reported finding three used syringes at her residence. They were collected for disposal.

At 1:00 p.m. on Friday, a victim reported the theft of personal property—two cell phone batteries—at the Knox Learning Center on W. Vine Street. At least one of them was recovered.

At 1:20 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of shoplifting at Shoe Sensation. A pair of shoes was stolen and another pair was recovered. A suspect was identified.

At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on the 100-block of N. Gay Street. A suspect was identified.

At 9:40 p.m. on Friday, an officer responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment on the 1100-block of Coshocton Avenue. A cedar box with a small amount of marijuana and three pipes containing marijuana residue were collected as evidence. A suspect was identified and arrested.

At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, an officer responded to a report of an unruly juvenile at a residence on Grange Avenue. A suspect was identified.

At 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that her Social Security number had been used to file a fraudulent tax return.

At 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on the 300-block of W. Gambier Street. A suspect was identified and arrested. A 2002 Nissan Sentra was towed from the scene by Howard Street Garage.

At 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, a resident turned a debit card over to the MVPD as found property.

At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, a suspect at the Knox County Jail was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

At 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, an officer responded to a report of the theft of copper wire from the Ariel Corporation on the 100-block of Mount Vernon Avenue.

At 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, an officer responded to a report of a juvenile who had been “kicked out of his house”.

At 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, an officer discovered an open garage door at Mount Vernon Overhead Door on the 400-block of Fairmont Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and conducted a walk-thru of the premises. Nothing appeared to be disturbed. The owner of the business arrived and verified that everything was in-order. He secured the garage door and the officers cleared from the immediate area.

Sunday 4/12 DPD aided an individual who crashed their bicycle in the area of South Market Street and Rambo Street.

Sunday 4/12 DPD responded to the 400 block of East Street on a report of several juveniles shooting a B-B gun.

Saturday 4/11 DPD responded to the 800 block of South Market Street on two juveniles being unruly.

Saturday 4/11 DPD responded to the 100 block of East Washington Street in a fight between two juvenile. Charges will be filed.

Friday 4/10 DPD responded to the 200 block of East Walnut Street on report or a missing juvenile. Juvenile located.

Thursday 4/9 DPD responded to the 10 block of West Rambo Street a complaint of inappropriate behavior from a male towards a female.
