GAMBIER – The Mount Vernon YMCA Swim Team hosted the 47th Annual Big/Little Invitational Sunday at the Kenyon Athletic Center.
In recent years this invitational has attracted over 750 swimmers from as far away as West Virginia. This is a major end of the season event for YMCA swim team members as it is one of the last opportunities to get qualifying times for AA Champs, Zones and National competition.
It has required almost 200 volunteers from the community.
Swim team spokesman Scott Brenneman said, “This meet brings over 2,100 people into the Knox County community for this one day event. Some out of town swimmers will spend the Saturday night before The Big / Little in Mount Vernon area hotels due to the distance they must travel. This is a great opportunity to showcase our community.”
