Arrests and Charges:

Kenneth Johnson, 39, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday for a probation violation.

Shane Simmons, 34, of Fredericktown was arrested at 1:05 a.m. on Monday for a house arrest violation.

Robert Smith, 28, of Mount Vernon was charged at 1:00 a.m. on Monday with domestic violence.

Accidents:

At 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Beverly A. Kerr, 63, of Mount Vernon was heading southbound on S. Mulberry Street in her 2009 Subaru Forester.   At the W. Vine Street intersection, an unknown driver in a grey sedan ran the red-light and struck Kerr’s vehicle.  The unknown driver then fled the scene heading west.

 

Incidents:

At 10:45 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 100-block of E. Vine Street.  A male subject advised that he and his girlfriend had an argument about their child but that the altercation was never violent.  His girlfriend advised that he had choked her.  No signs of violence were visible on her person and she said that she did not want to press charges.  She provided a written statement to that effect.  The boyfriend voluntarily packed a bag and left the house to avoid further issues.   Both officers then left the scene.

At 8:05 a.m. on Monday, a manager at Auto Zone requested a 2002 Ford Explorer be towed from his lot on Coshocton Avenue.   At 12:20 p.m., Danny’s Auto Center towed it to the MVPD impound lot.

At 12:40 p.m. on Monday, a victim reported that her purse—containing her Ohio ID, her Social Security card, her AARP card, a pacemaker card, and $27.00 in cash–had been stolen from the County Club Retirement campus on Yauger Road.

At 12:35 p.m. on Monday, a resident of the 000-block of Highland Court reported that Nationwide Movers had backed into the residence across the street and, in the process, the truck’s front tire had gone into his yard, damaging it.  The truck was already gone when he noticed the damage so he could not contact the driver.  The property that the moving truck had backed into is for sale, so he left a message for the realtor to contact him.  Pictures were taken of the scene.

At 1:00 p.m. on Monday, a victim reported that she had been assaulted by her son at a residence on N. Main Street.  A suspect was identified.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, the Mount Vernon Fire Department requested police assistance at a residence on the 000-block of Elliott Street regarding a disorderly female.  A suspect was identified.

At 8:10 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a reported assault at the Pleasant Street Elementary School.  A suspect was identified.
