MOUNT VERNON – On Monday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. MVPD received a call of a man entering a residence on Boynton Street without permission. He fled that residence and entered another in the 100 block of North Center Street. According to a news release, officers were seconds behind. The subject was identified as Malcom Cornell. He fled to the upstairs and the resident got out safely. There was a brief standdoff. Cornell was threatening suicide and officers were able to talk him out without incident. A knife was located that did not belong to the resident in the North Center Street home.
