MOUNT VERNON — The Public Square will be the location once again this year for the annual Veterans Day observance in Mount Vernon at 11:11 a.m. on Monday.
The emcee for the ceremony will be Commander Mark Schwendener of Mount Vernon VFW Post 4027. The events include the Pledge of Allegiance, the placing of wreaths and music performed by the Mount Vernon High School band. The featured speaker will be Lynn McCann representing the Sons of the American Revolution.
In Apple Valley, everyone is welcome to attend a ceremony to honor veterans at 7 p.m. at Floral Valley Community Center featuring the cadets of the Air Force Junior ROTC from the Knox County Career Center, the Apple Valley Singers performing patriotic songs, and speaker Dr. Brent Nimeth, a U.S. Army veteran.
