Arrests and Charges:
Chester Gingerich, 27, of Bellville was charged at about 2:40 a.m. on Saturday with an open container violation. He was charged also with resisting arrest and cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and for failing to use required headlights. It was his second OVI arrest in the last twenty years.
Scott M. Cochran, 32, of Cardington was charged just before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday with criminal mischief and assault on the 100-block of Mount Vernon Avenue.
Jason Sowers, 31, of Mount Vernon was charged at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday with a parole violation on N. Sandusky Street. He was charged also with persistent disorderly conduct and with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphenalia (including a scale-and-balance).
George Scanlon, 22, of Mount Vernon was charged at 11:10 a.m. on Sunday with domestic violence at a residence on the 600-block of S. McKenzie Street. He was then picked up for a parole violation.
Matelan Mill, 20, of Mount Vernon was also charged at 11:10 a.m. on Sunday with domestic violence at a residence on the 600-block of S. McKenzie Street.
Michael Simmons, 37, of Mount Vernon was charged at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday with possession of a controlled substance on the 200-block of W. Ohio Avenue. He was cited also for operating a vehicle with an expired registration.
Martin E. Rodriguez, 39, a homeless man, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday for criminal trespassing at a residence on the 100-block of N. McKenzie Street.
Julia Fahling, 50, of Mouint Vernon was charged just after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday with persistent disorderly conduct at Knox Community Hospital.
Traffic Citations:
Kenneth W. Huffman Jr., 20, of Lexington was cited at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.
Ronnie Long, 52, of Mount Vernon was cited at around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday for failure to yield.
Richard B. Murray, 77, of Mount Vernon was cited just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday for starting and backing his vehicle without insuring it was safe to do so.
William Levi Strouse, 21, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday for driving under a suspended license.
Samantha Hunt, 20, of Fredericktown was cited at around 1:20 a.m. on Friday for driving under a suspended license.
Accidents:
At around 4:00 p.m. last Tuesday (9/24/2013), a 2012 Honda Accord was parked in the Kroger parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle. The suspect left the scene without even leaving a note.
At around 3:40 p.m. on Friday, a 1998 Ford Expedition driven by David L. Judson, 39, of Lexington was parked facing traffic on Mansfield Avenue and attempted to pull out onto the street. At the same time, Randall A. Lemon, 36, of Shiloh was backing his 2009 Chevy HHR out of a driveway onto Mansfield Avenue. The vehicles struck one another.
Just after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Michael A. Sapp, 58, of Danville was heading eastbound on Coshocton Avenue near Highland Drive in a 1988 Chevy 1500. Krystina M. Lumbatis, 24, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him in a 2001 Volkswagen Golf. Sapp slowed for traffic and Lumbatis failed to react in time. She struck Sapp’s vehicle in the rear.
At around 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, Richard B. Murray, 77, of Mount Vernon was parked on S. Main Street near the Vine Street intersection. When he attempted to pull his 2010 Lexus into traffic, he struck a 2003 Kia Rio driven by Angela L Liming, 44, of Mount Gilead. Murray was cited for the incident.
Incidents:
At around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a business alarm at Pond Tire on W. Gambier Street. They found the exterior of the building secure and everything appeared to be in order. A keyholder was called but did not respond. A message was left informing him of the situation.
At 7:40 p.m. on Friday, an officer responded to a disturbance in an alley on the 100-block of E. Burgess Street. A suspect was identified.
Just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to an assault at the Duke & Duchess Shoppe on Coshocton Avenue. A suspect was identified.
At a little after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, a burglary was reported at a resident on the 200-block of W. Gambier Street. Among the missing items were two silver chain-link necklaces and a gold bracelet. A suspect was identified.
At about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, a local resident turned in several items found in his residence to be destroyed. Among the items handed over to MVPD were a glass pipe, a straw, a spoon, and a penile ring.
At 11:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 600-block of S. McKenzie Street. Suspects were identified and charged and one of them was taken into custody for a probation violation.
