MOUNT VERNON – The first of two flu vaccine clinics for children will be held Tuesday (9/17) from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Knox County Health Department. The flu clinic is being held as part of the monthly late clinic at the health department. Vaccine will be offered on a walk-in basis; no appointment is necessary. The health department offers flu vaccine for children in the form of a nasal spray for children ages 2-18 yrs. and in the form of a shot for children, 6 to 35 months of age Cost for the flu vaccine is $25. Medicaid and Medicare will be accepted for payment.
A flu vaccine clinic for children will also be held at the health department on Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Due to an unexpected delay in the shipment of vaccine for adults, three community clinics have been rescheduled. The new dates are: Oct 21 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s Community Center in Danville; Oct. 23, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Apple Valley Property Owners Building in Howard; and Oct. 30 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Gambier Community Center. The flu vaccine is available to adults only as a shot.
Since the beginning of September, the health department has given 500 doses of flu vaccine. For more information, call the health department medical clinic at 399-8009.
