Harold Wesley Hauger, 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1927 in Martinsburg, Ohio the son of William H. and Elizabeth (Breece) Hauger.

Harold graduated from Chesterville High School in 1945 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1949 serving two years in Germany. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and retired from Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon. Harold enjoyed showing antique gasoline engines at area shows and caring for his cats and dogs. He also enjoyed hanging out with his good buddies George, Junior and Don.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Patty Hauger; nephews, Dave (Dee) Joy, of Barberton, Bill (Nancy) Joy, of Wadsworth; a niece, Debbie Eihinger, of Uniontown; several great nieces and nephews; step-daughters, Allison Wilson, of Dayton, Evelyn (James) Borders, of Mount Vernon, and Teresa (Terry) Hague, of Bellville; nine step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Walter and a sister, Dorothy Joy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 14764 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Rev. Susan Stevens will be officiating. A private graveside service will be held in Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier.

Memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
