HARRISON TOWNSHIP – An 89-year-old Howard man was killed Thursday after a two-vehicle crash in Knox County, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Donald Duncan, 89,Β was later pronounced deceased at Ohio State University Hospital. Two other people involved in the accident, Dixie and William Greenfield, both 62, and also of Brinkhaven,Β sustained minor injuries and were treated at the Knox Community Hospital.

The incident took place at approximately 2:22 p.m., on State Route 229 and U.S Route 62, Harrison Township.

According to the Patrol, Duncan was operating a gold 2003 Toyota Camry westbound on State Route 229. Dixie Greenfield, accompanied by William Greenfield in the front passenger seat, was operating a gold 2011 Dodge Durango southbound on U.S Route 62.

The Patrol stated that Duncan failed to yield from a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by Greenfield’s vehicle. Duncan’s vehicle and Greenfield’s vehicle came to final rest on the southwest edge of U.S Route 62.

The Greenfields were conscious and alert while being treated by Eastern Knox EMS.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Eastern Knox EMS.

The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
