MVPD reports December 23, 2013

 

Christine N. Wilkins, 26, of Columbus was picked up at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday for an outstanding warrant.

Trevor Hagans, 24, of Mount Vernon was charged at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aaron J. Hairston, 22, of Mount Vernon was picked up at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday for a parole violation.

James W. Johnson, 54, of Mount Vernon was charged just after 6:00 a.m. on Sunday with domestic violence.

Traffic Violations:

Courtney R. Cotton, 25, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:10 a.m. on Friday for operating a vehicle with a defective/loud exhaust.

Richard C. Simon, 68, of Howard was cited just after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

Accidents:

Just before 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Fred B. Hoeflick, 47, of Fredericktown was headed eastbound on W. High Street approaching the Sandusky Street intersection in his 2010 Honda Accord.  John D. Cline, 33, of Galloway was immediately behind him in his 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan.  Hoeflick entered the left-turn lane, changed his mind, and re-entered the main traffic lane.  When he did so, he struck Cline’s vehicle in the side.    Hoeflick was cited for the incident.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Robert Franklin Wayne Smith, 19, of Mount Vernon was heading northbound on Wooster Road in a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire.   A police cruiser was immediately behind him.  Smith turned left onto Taylor Road, took the turn wide, left the roadway, and struck a telephone pole.   He told the officer at the scene that he had been distracted by the presence of the police car.  He was then cited for the incident and for operating a vehicle under a suspended license.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Frederick Thomas Flint, 75, of Devil Hills, NC was heading southbound in the right-lane of S. Mulberry Street in his 2013 Ford Escape.  Larry Adkins, 78, of Marengo was in the left-lane heading in the same direction in his Lincoln MKZ.   Although he was in the wrong lane, Thomas attempted to turn left onto W. Gambier Street.   In doing so, he crossed into Adkins’s lane and caused Adkins to strike his vehicle.   Flint was cited for the incident.

                                                                                                                                                                                          

Incidents:

At 2:30 a.m. on Friday, a victim reported an incident of telecommunication harassment.  A suspect was identified.

At 3:45 a.m. on Friday, an officer patrolling downtown heard an audible alarm at the Eagles Club.  He checked the exterior and it appeared secure.  A keyholder came to the scene and accompanied the officer as he checked the interior.  Nothing appeared amiss so they reset the alarm, secured he building, and left the scene.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on Friday, a suspect caused a disturbance at the Knox County Hospital and damaged a sliding door in the Emergency Room.

At around 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, a resident of the 1000-block of E. Vine Street reported a theft from her residence.  Among the items taken were a 2 ½ foot tall plastic penguin, a 2 ½ foot tall plastic Santa Claus, a 3 foot tall plastic candle, and other Christmas decorations.  Their combined value was estimated at $400.00.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to an activated business alarm on the 1700-block of Old Delaware Road.  They checked the exterior and interior of the building and everything appeared to be in order.

At about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, an officer was dispatched to the Pink Cupcake Bakery on an alarm call.  He found a door on the north side of the building unsecured.  He checked the interior of the building and everything appeared to be in order.  A keyholder arrived at the scene and also found nothing amiss.  They secured the door and left the scene.

At about 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of an assault at Honey Buckets bar on W. Vine Street.  A suspect was identified.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, a resident of the 800-block of W. Chestnut Street reported that six DVDs rented from Family Video had been stolen from his residence.  The movies included “Dream Catcher”, “My Soul to Take”, “Premonition”, “Lost Boys: The Tribe”, “Date Movie”, and “Bled”.  A suspect was identified and the report noted that an earlier shift had responded to a disturbance at the same residence earlier that day.

At around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that several items had been removed his unlocked vehicle while it was parked outside Banana Joe’s.   Missing items included a brown leather wallet (containing credit cards, ID, and a Social Security card), an e-cigarette with several refills, and miscellaneous CDs in a black carrying case.  Their combined value was estimated at $400.00.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, an officer accompanied medics to a residence on the 100-block of E. Sugar Street where several juveniles were reportedly smoking Spice.  Recovered at the scene was a large (opened) bottle of vodka, a homemade pipe containing black residue, and a small plastic bag containing a brown granular substance.  The items were collected as evidence and juvenile suspects were identified.

At 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, a resident of the 1200-block of N. Mulberry Street reported that someone had shattered the passenger-window of his wife’s 2013 Ford SUV and stolen a Walther PK380 with a loaded magazine and laser-sight that was kept in the center console.  The weapon’s value was estimated at $800.00.

At 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that someone had broken the front window of her vehicle while it was parked on the 100-block of Mansfield Avenue.  Twelve dollars worth of Holiday Lottery tickets had been stolen.   A suspect was identified.

At 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, a victim reported that someone had broken the right-front window of his vehicle parked on Swingle Street.  His Garmin GPS device had been stolen and a suspect was identified.

At 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, officers investigated a business alarm on the 1700-block of Old Delaware Road.  Everything appeared to be in order so they left the scene.

Just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, an officer responded to a disturbance at a residence on the 300-block of Columbus Road.  A suspect was identified.
