MOUNT VERNON — Those looking for some seasonal family fun can head to downtown Mount Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 9 for the first ever Johnny Appleseed Apple Fest.
Sponsored by The Peoples Bank of Gambier, The Johnny Appleseed Apple Fest is a Main Street Mount Vernon event celebrating our love for all things apple, and honoring one of Mount Vernon’s most notable pioneers, Johnny Appleseed.
The festival will include great food, live music, demonstrations and fun for all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Mount Vernon’s beautiful Central Business District.
The KnoxPages.com Main Stage, located at the intersection of Blackberry Alley and East Ohio Avenue, will welcome a Johnny Appleseed performance by Pleasant Street Elementary 3rd Grade students beginning at 10 a.m., and live music from Steamtown Road from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Dumbaugh Insurance Demonstration Station will include era-appropriate demonstrations and will be located on West Ohio Avenue.
A rotating cycle of demonstrators will take place on the Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston and Ultimate Chiropractic secondary stage, located at the intersection of South Main Street & East Ohio Avenue.
The SPI Spot Kid’s Zone, presented by Wendy’s of Mount Vernon, will feature exciting activities designed to both entertain and educate young minds. Located on Howard Street and inside 400 South Main Street, SPI Spot will not be charging admission during the event.
Mount Vernon Players has even talked Johnny Appleseed himself into making an appearance.
Vendors will be able to sell directly from the streets of downtown, and don’t forget to stop by the wonderful retail shops, restaurants and other attractions in downtown Mount Vernon to support the district’s local merchants.
