MOUNT VERNON – Jake’s Steakhouse in Mount Vernon has closed, according to a statement posted on the front door by company managing partner Tim DeRodes.

“I regret to inform you that effective today – Thursday, September 26, 2019 – we have ceased operations at our Mount Vernon Jake’s location,” the statement reads. “We have appreciated your loyal support and patronage over the past 18 years. We are going to miss seeing each of you and sincerely regret the results this decision will create for you and our excellent employees and staff.”

Jake's statement

The Mount Vernon restaurant, located at 996 Coshocton Road, is one of three Jake’s Steakhouse locations in north central Ohio. There are also restaurants in Ashland and Wooster.

Representatives from both of the other restaurants told Knox Pages this morning that they are still open for business today. When asked if she was aware of the Mount Vernon location closing, a representative from the Wooster location appeared shocked.

“I didn’t even know the Mount Vernon one was closing,” she said, “so I can’t help you with that.”

Attempts to contact the Jake’s Steakhouse corporate office, located in Wooster, were unsuccessful Thursday morning. Knox Pages is seeking more information on why this location has closed and how its closure will affect – or already has affected – employees. Former Jake’s Steakhouse employees can reach out to Grant Pepper at grant@knoxpages.com to share their stories.

This is a developing story. Knox Pages will provide updates as more information becomes available.
