MOUNT VERNON — The City of Mount Vernon will break ground on a new 36,858-square-foot police station at 3 p.m. on Aug. 4.
Located on almost 7 acres at 71 Sychar Road, the city and Mount Vernon Police Department, along with their project partners, are eager to celebrate a project several years in the making.
“We are excited about moving forward with the construction for the new Mount Vernon Police Department after all of the hard work that has gotten us to this point,” said Chief Robert Kit Morgan. “This facility will greatly improve our ability to serve the citizens of Mount Vernon.”
With an anticipated Q4 2027 opening date, the new station will house administration, records, a public lobby, community support, investigations, patrol, and training spaces.
“Our team is eager to watch this project take shape after working so closely with city representatives to determine their community needs,” said Jim Russell, executive vice president for Pizzuti Solutions LLC.
“The new facility will allow the police department more space for training exercises and expanded supplemental offerings to better serve residents.”
