Mary Lou Conger, age 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was born on October 4, 1934, in North Liberty, Ohio, the daughter of Harley and Mary Margaret (Leedy) Teeter.

Mary Lou grew up on a dairy farm and developed a strong appreciation for the simple joys of life and hard work. She was a 1952 graduate of Butler High School, where she was very active in 4-H and cheerleading.

Mary Lou found great enjoyment in caring for her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an excellent cook and baker and took pride in canning the produce from her garden. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed coloring and completing jigsaw puzzles. Mary Lou was also a true animal lover. She especially enjoyed watching the birds and cherished the companionship of her beloved dogs. Mary Lou was a former member of the Eastside Church of Christ.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of home and family, and the many simple pleasures that brought her happiness throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Lee Ann (Andrew) Squire of Schaghticoke, New York, and Lori Lynn Conger of Lewis Center, Ohio, a sister, Patricia (Lee) Bailey of North Liberty and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dean Conger, brothers and sisters, Joan Boyce, Donald Teeter, Beverly Althouse, Bernice Kearns and Larry Teeter.

The family will observe a private burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of Life service will be announced for a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mary Lou Conger.
