Beverly J. Petro of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was born October 4, 1942, in Marietta, Ohio, to the late Ellis and Miriam (Elicker) Davis.
Beverly was the first of her family to graduate from college, The Ohio University School of Journalism, and was hired immediately by the Columbus Dispatch. Decades later she would retire from the Meister agricultural Publishing Company of Willoughby.
Beverly is recently preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John J “Jack” Petro. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth ‘Libby” (Tony) Petro Castillo of Fredericktown.
In keeping with their shared wishes, Beverly will also be buried at sea in Lake Erie, with Jack, near the Ballast Island fishing grounds often shared with family and friends.
