MOUNT VERNON — Interchurch Social Services announces it will partner with Mid-Ohio Food Collective on a supplemental senior food program.

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is designed to improve the health of qualifying individuals by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA Foods. This
program is open to Knox County residents with low income who are at least 60 years of age and at or below 150% of federal poverty guidelines.

The program provides one box of food (cheese included) each month to those who sign up for and are approved for the program. Those interested in participating should contact Interchurch at 740-397-4825 or stop into the office at 306 W. Gambier St. in Mount Vernon to pick up an application.

There will be a limited number of boxes available, and a wait list of requests created if needed. ISS Executive Director Carolyn Fergus hopes to start distributing boxes in June. However, final details have not been set up with Mid-Ohio Food Collective at this time.

The boxes are in addition to any pantry service residents already receive. Contact Interchurch as soon as possible to get signed up so the agency knows how many people are interested in the program.
