Steven Whightsel, age 71, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Altercare Majora Lane Center in Millersburg, Ohio. He was born on August 15, 1954, in Columbus, the son of Franklin and Diana (Taggi) Whightsel.

Steven retired from the tax division of the State of Ohio following many years of dedicated service. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, collecting model trains, and proudly entering his Mustang in local car shows. He especially appreciated the friendships and memories made through his hobbies and interests.

Steven will be remembered for his quiet nature, dedication to his work, and the enjoyment he found in the simple things in life. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Steven A. (Erika) Whightsel of Westerville, a daughter, Summer (Charley) Whightsel of Howard, two grandchildren, Cade Whightsel and Cian Whightsel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
