James Daniel Purdy, age 80, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Fredericktown, Ohio. He was born on September 4, 1945, in Fredericktown, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Blanche (Cox) Purdy.

Jim graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1964 and worked for Continental Can and retiring at the age of 55. He was a lifetime member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Fredericktown. Jim’s greatest passion was hunting and trapping. He spent countless hours hunting squirrels, coons, frog gigging, and checking his traps. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting horse harnesses and western memorabilia.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Linda Brake, Donny Cline, Joyce Brake, Debbie Cline, Jeff Cline, Lori Steel, Kathie Yarman, Steve Brake, Mark Purdy, Dathan Purdy, Mathew Purdy, Rye Purdy, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin, Phillip, and Allen Purdy; sisters, Alma Cline and Wilma Brake.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown, Ohio.
