MOUNT VERNON — United Way of Knox County will accept funding applications for its 2026 grant cycle starting Oct. 1.
The organization, recognized for its longstanding partnerships with local nonprofits, aims to provide ongoing support for programs that enhance community well-being and improve lives throughout the county.
In 2025, nonprofit agencies submitted funding requests totaling $916,000. Thanks to the generosity of local donors, United Way allocated $650,000 to a wide range of initiatives. All funding is sourced entirely from the organization’s annual fundraising campaign.
Three core pillars guide United Way’s strategic investments:
- Education: Supporting early literacy, academic intervention, and life skills development.
- Healthy Living: Encouraging lifelong wellness and preventive care for residents of all ages.
- Financial Stability: Promoting economic independence through services such as tax
preparation, housing assistance, and financial literacy education.
By emphasizing prevention, collaboration, and measurable outcomes, United Way works with community partners to address immediate needs while building long-term solutions.
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for 2026 funding may request an application by contacting Program Coordinator Kristina Hagemann at kristina@uwayknox.org.
The United Way will accept applications through Oct. 31. Following a review process, applicants will present their proposals to a panel of community members representing diverse countywide interests.
Final funding decisions are expected to be announced in January 2026.
