Charles Strickland, age 74, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Gahanna, Ohio. Born on March 9, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, Charles lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
A proud Army veteran, Charles went on to serve his country again through his work as a computer programmer for the federal government. He approached life with humility, steadiness, and a heart full of care for others.
Though he was a quiet man, everyone who knew Charles felt the depth of his goodness. He didn’t speak often, but when he did, it mattered. His gentle spirit, kind eyes, and warm hugs made everyone around him feel safe and loved. His poetry lives on as a reflection of his depth of feeling and character.
Charles had a deep love for music of all kinds, there was always something playing nearby, and a simple joy in life’s comforts: mac & cheese, hot dogs, ice cream, and especially Frostys from Wendy’s. He found joy in the little things and taught those around him to do the same.
He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Strickland, and a devoted father to his daughter, Monica Scott. His life was made brighter by his grandchildren: Sinnai, Saiah, Tyler, and Selah, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Charles is survived by his sisters: Connie Kimmins, Judy (Walt) Markwell , and Yolanda (Steve) Henderson; his brother, David (Rhonda) Strickland; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him with deep affection.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Cleo Strickland, his loving wife Patricia, and three brothers whose memories remain cherished.
Among the most treasured memories his daughter holds is something he often told her: “I love you more.” It was his quiet way of reminding her just how deeply he cared, a phrase that will echo in her heart forever.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, gentleness, and quiet strength. A legacy that lives on in the lives of those he touched, and especially in the heart of his daughter, who will love him always.
