MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Convention and Visitors Bureau (KCCVB) is excited to promote Knox County’s green spaces with its Wilderness & Well-being Guide in recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month.

This initiative encourages community members and visitors to explore the abundant green spaces and outdoor amenities Knox County offers to support their mental and emotional well-being.

The digital guide, available for free download on the Visit Knox Ohio website (www.visitknoxohio.com), highlights local parks, trails, waterways, and scenic spots perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature.

“Our ‘Wilderness & Well-being Guide is designed to be a starting point, a gentle nudge to encourage everyone to unplug and reconnect with themselves”, said Olivia Toth, marketing manager of the KCCVB.

“Mental Health Awareness Month provides the perfect opportunity to prioritize our well-being, and we hope this guide makes it easier to do so.”

The KCCVB invites community members, visitors, and curious explorers to embark on their wilderness and well-being journey throughout May.

“To further encourage participation, we hope users will connect with us via social media to share their stories or pictures as they are inspired by the guide,” said Toth.

Individuals who share their experiences on Instagram by tagging the official KCCVB account, @visitknoxohio, and using the hashtag #gowildfeelwellknox will be entered into a drawing with prizes at the end of the month.

Collaboration enhances natural beauty of local trails

Beyond participating in the guide this month, the KCCVB encourages the community to save the date for Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m., as the Brown Family Environmental Center, Philander Chase Conservancy and Knox County Parks District cut the ceremonial ribbon at the new North Trail System on Yauger Road (across from Wolf Run Park).

“This is a big year for our park district celebrating 30 years, along with the Brown Family Environmental Center, Philander Chase Conservancy and Owl Creek Conservancy all celebrating 25 years,” said Toth.

“We are forever grateful to our green partners and the dedicated volunteers that enhance the natural beauty of our trails, parks and waterways. We hope this Wilderness & Well-being Guide will be the perfect itinerary builder to promote recreation and expand exploration all year long.”
