At 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (7/12), an overnight break-in was reported at the Salem United Methodist Church in Fredericktown.
At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday (7/12), an overnight break-in was reported at the First Church of God on Zolman Road in Fredericktown. Two church members had returned home from a trip to Amish country and found a garage door open. When they got closer, they saw that it had been kicked in. A gray/silver Hi-Wheel push-mower was missing from the garage. The building was secured with a chain until the door could be permanently fixed.
At 9:05 a.m. on Sunday (7/13), an overnight break-in was reported at Waterford United Methodist Church in Fredericktown. Several items were found meeting when parishioners arrived for services. The door to the church was unlocked. Deputies processed the scene and took several photographs.

At 9:45 a.m. last Saturday (7/5), a resident of Hickory Lane in Howard reported the theft of some stereo equipment from a boat parked overnight outside his home. Four speakers and an amplifier were missing and the suspect attempted, but failed, to remove the head unit for the stereo. The face-plate had been removed and discarded on the floor but contained no fingerprints. The boat’s owner had been advised of the theft at the time of the report.
At 12:40 p.m. last Saturday (7/5), a resident of Garber Road in Mount Vernon reported the theft of several items from his barn. At some point during the previous two weeks, someone had entered the building and removed two Husqvarna chain saws and a Husqvarna weed trimmer. The victim provided serial numbers for the items and they were entered into the LEADS system as stolen property. The barn was unlocked/open and there were no signs of forced entry.
At 4:00 p.m. last Sunday (7/6), a resident of N. County Line Road in Centerburg reported that someone had removed the tools from the bed of his truck. Among the missing items were aDewalt sliding miter saw, an 18v Dewalt drill, and a ½” Dewaltcordless drill. The owner could not provide serial numbers for the tools, did not know when or where the items were taken, and advised the deputy that he had stayed in a hotel in Columbus that weekend and that the tools could have been taken then. He had not checked the tools in his truck for several days.
At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday (7/12), a victim reported that her cell-phone and GPS system had been removed from her vehicle while it was parked overnight outside her residence on the 1600-block of Laybelle Drive in Mount Vernon.
At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (7/12), a victim reported that a pair of sunglasses and a Social Security card had been stolen from his unlocked black Cadillac while parked overnight outside his residence on Meadowbrook Drive in Mount Vernon.
At 5:40 p.m. on Saturday (7/12), a resident of Humbert Road in Howard reported that someone had forced open—or possibly kicked in—the back door of his home. Nothing else in the residence appeared to be disturbed or missing. Photos were taken of the door and other parts of the property and the victim told the deputy that he would secure the door as best he could.
At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday (7/13), a resident of the 5000-block of Johnstown Road in Centerburg reported that she had been trying to sell a truck for a friend but that, at some point over the Fourth of July weekend, someone had stolen its catalytic converter. She noted that she had seen a white truck peel out of her driveway at a high rate of speed, hitting her mail box in the process. She requested extra patrols of the area.
