Eleanor Louise Hanna, 91, of Bladensburg passed away on January 25, 2025 at the family farm on Henpeck Rd. She was born to Elmer and Geneva (Schlotterbeck) Parks of Preble County, Ohio. She graduated with a B.A. in Education from Miami University and taught for twenty- eight years in Preble, Licking and Knox counties. She was a skilled musician; playing piano and organ at the Bladensburg Church of Christ and at many wedding ceremonies and music programs over the years. She also played the baritone horn, accordion, dulcimer, hammer dulcimer, autoharp and guitar. One of her later passions was playing tuned cowbells and performing at many mother-daughter banquets along with her friend, Deloris Rine. She loved to sing and was also a beautiful whistler. She instilled the love of music in her children who all took piano lessons from her at a young age. She was still giving piano lessons in her retirement years.
Eleanor is survived by her children Sherrell Benedict, Roland (Jackie) Hanna, James Hanna (Mandy) all of Utica address and Rochelle (Greg) Arck of Mount Vernon, 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Harley Hanna and 2nd husband, Fred Rooker; brothers, Vernon (Opal) Parks, Harold Parks, Ray (Ruth Mary) Parks, Lee Parks, and sisters, Bertie Smith, Jeanne Milholland; son, Nathan Hanna; grandson, Christopher Arck; granddaughter, Rachel Hanna; foster daughter and husband from Brazil, Fatà and Tom Fuchs; sons-in-law, Joseph Campbell and Tom Benedict.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Bladensburg Church of Christ on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. The family will have a private burial at Memorial Gardens in the Spring.
