Virginia (Ginger) G. Camstra, 88, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away June 3, 2024, with her five children by her side. She died of complications due to cancer.
She was born to parents Anthony H. and Margaret E. Dropp, September 27, 1935, in Balboa, Panama Canal Zone. She attended Salve Regina College, Rhode Island and later, became a licensed practical nurse at Fayette County Memorial Hospital, Ohio in the 1980s.
Ginger married the late Frank A. Camstra, Jr. in 1954, and lived as a US Air Force officer’s wife for 57 years eventually settling in Leakey, Texas, Pensacola, Florida, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. She is survived by her brother and sister in-law, Robert and Priscilla Dropp, five children, Glenn Camstra, Maggie Camstra, Carol Camstra, Gail Ganger, and Michael Camstra, twelve grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, Lauren, Robert, Kayla, Claire, Phoebe, Kevin, Pilar, Erica, John, and Benjamin, six great-grandchildren Jordan, the late Bryanna, Margot, Ada, Poppy, and Elliott, and nephew Anthony Dropp and niece Lori Casey.
Ginger was an avid church-goer active in the church choir, bell choir, and dulcimer group. Her hobbies included swimming, gardening, stained glass art and sewing. Her sewing skills produced many beautiful quilts and wall hangings. She volunteered at the library. She is known by her friends as always willing to lend an ear and loved to sit and chat about her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved and loved you back.
Services will be held at a later date at the Naval Academy Columbarium where she will be inurned with her late husband, Frank.
