MOUNT VERNON – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at approximately 8:15 PM in Butler Township in Knox County. The crash occurred on County Road 38 (Woods-Church Road) south of SR 229.
A 2005 Ford Excursion, driven by Tyler O. Weisgram, age 37, of Delaware, Ohio was northbound on County Road 38. Mr. Weisgram drove off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned, and struck a fence. Mr. Weisgram was ejected during the crash.
Mr. Weisgram was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner. Mr. Weisgram was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is also suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Danville Fire and EMS. The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Gilead Highway Patrol Post.
