MOUNT VERNON- Starting Point will host its 25th Annual Walk on Saturday, October 7th. This annual fund-raising event is one of the organization’s primary sources of revenue. Starting Point’s entire funding comes from individuals, businesses, and churches. The WALK will be held at Starting Point’s 11 Woodlake Trail location. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the WALK at 10:00 a.m. The goal is to raise $57,000 in pledges.
Event sponsors and their in-kind donations have made it possible for the day to include grilled hot dogs, ice cream, pizza, and chips.
This year a REMODEL Open House will follow WALK, beginning at 11:15 a.m. and ending at 12:00 noon. This Open House is open to both Walkers and non-walkers.
Due to the generosity of our community and fund raisers like the WALK, all services to clients of Starting Point are provided at no cost to them by caring staff and trained volunteers and are completely confidential. Pregnancy tests and verifications, limited OB Ultrasounds, and “Earn While You Learn” parenting classes are among the services offered. Approximately 350-400 individuals are served each year by Starting Point.
