Gambier is a village of roughly 2,200 people located five miles east of Mount Vernon in Knox County, Ohio.

GAMBIER — Gambier village council has approved the final contract needed before the Ohio 229/308 shared-use path, roundabout project goes to bid. Now it’s in the state’s hands.

The resolution was approved at Monday’s council meeting, the last regular meeting of the year.

The construction of the roundabout/shared-used path is being paid for by the Ohio Department of Transportation — a project that’s been in development since early 2022.

The village paid for 20% of the engineering costs of the shared-use path with the Central Ohio Regional Planning Organization fronting the rest, Village Administrator RC Wise said.

The total was $77,920. The project goes to bid on Jan. 11.
