HOWARD – Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer says that on Friday, June 24, at approximately 7:47pm the Knox County Dispatch center received a report of a possible drowning in Apple Valley. Deputies, along with dive teams from the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District and the Fredericktown Community Fire District responded to the area.
The 19 year old victim, Olufikayomi Idowu was recovered at approximately 8:34pm. He was transported to the Knox Community Hospital and then to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
The Ohio State University released a statement Saturday announcing Idowu’s death. Idowu was a member of the men’s soccer team. “His family and loved ones are in our hearts and in our prayers during this time of grief,” read the statement.
